Collaborative audio work and radio documentary

A short edit of This City's Centre, 3. Here Now, a performance incorporating live video streaming, staged between a third-floor office space in Princesshay, Exeter and the streets and homes of the city. This City's Centre was a digital triptych for Exeter. Developed by Blind Ditch in 2013 in partnership with Exeter Phoenix, RAMM, Exeter College and funded by Arts Council England, Exeter City Council and Arts and Culture at University of Exeter.

Performers in order of appearance: Phil Smith, Katy Villa, Jonny Rowden, Students from Exeter College, Jane Mason, Lizzy Humber. Music is from Consort of Fower Parts composed by Matthew Locke in Exeter 1660 ca. played by Cat Radford on accordian outside Exeter Cathedral. Camera by Philibert Patricot. Edit Volkhardt Müller.

Young people from The House youth facility at Polkyth Leisure Centre in St Austell worked with the Blind Ditch VANLAND film making project to research, script and storyboard a film on the issue of teenage pregnancy. In the film the fictional characters Collette, a 15 year old St Austell girl, and her boyfriend Andrew of the same age, go through the emotions and anxiety connected to the belief that she might be pregnant. The film follows Collette as she plucks up the courage to buy and take a pregnancy test.

<div class="content_boxes">The young people themselves were responsible for fundraising for the project, and were successful in obtaining a grant from the Terrance Higgins Trust to make a film specifically about teenage pregnancy. Statistics show that there is a greater chance of young women Collette’s age getting pregnant in St Austell than other areas of the UK. Young people at The House saw an opportunity to do something positive in the area to address the issue. To raise further awareness of the project and issues surrounding it, the young people painted giant storyboards from the film and displayed them in public places around St Austell.</div>

Dream it Large! was visioned by Blind Ditch and commissioned by the young people themselves after a competitive application process and interviews with prospect artists and arts groups.
Visioned and facilitated by Cat Radford and Volkhardt Müller. Delivered with film maker Ben Sheriff with help from the staff  and youth leaders at The House.

Funded by Groundworks and the Terrance Higgins Trust.
