Collaborative audio work and radio documentary

A short edit of This City's Centre, 3. Here Now, a performance incorporating live video streaming, staged between a third-floor office space in Princesshay, Exeter and the streets and homes of the city. This City's Centre was a digital triptych for Exeter. Developed by Blind Ditch in 2013 in partnership with Exeter Phoenix, RAMM, Exeter College and funded by Arts Council England, Exeter City Council and Arts and Culture at University of Exeter.

Performers in order of appearance: Phil Smith, Katy Villa, Jonny Rowden, Students from Exeter College, Jane Mason, Lizzy Humber. Music is from Consort of Fower Parts composed by Matthew Locke in Exeter 1660 ca. played by Cat Radford on accordian outside Exeter Cathedral. Camera by Philibert Patricot. Edit Volkhardt Müller.

For the future of our country we compete against the consumer wash of the High Street and the empty silence of the commuter belt. Places where neighbourhood can’t happen on the street. Places that keep our heads down and tunnel our vision. Their uncomfortable street furniture and corporate policing resists our need to think and be together.

Reclaiming public space through ping pong!

We towed a custom built table tennis table (made from recycled bike parts) around the streets and public spaces of five British cities. Members of the public were invited to stand their ground against the Global Players – reclaiming public space through ping pong, and creating an exciting community event together. Winning was taken very seriously with game stats and edited video highlights uploaded online daily.
Whilst the intention was for further national tours leading up to the 2012 Olympics… we never made it. Perhaps we were usurped by a <a href="http://www.pingengland.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">better funded set of tables</a> launched nationally in 2012. But we still have the table and the glory! Please <a href="http://www.blindditch.org/contact/">get in touch if you fancy a game…</a>
